I found this on Keith Lango's website. It is amazing how something some simple can emote so much. As you watch it you forget about the simplicity and are drawn into weather the character is going to make it in to the bowl of water. You are drawn into the illusion of life. Brilliant! As Keith mentions in his blog "character and motivation are the keys to bringing something to life". And as I like say it is not about the what (action) that is going on, it is HOW is it done that makes something entertaining. If he climbed up the ladder and jumped in the bowl of water that would be to easy and not as entertaining. The objective was simple and clear to understand. It wasn't overly complicated and confusing. In my opinion all animation should be approached in this manner, the action wasn't A to B. Even in at the end when he finally did jump into the water he did it in an unexpected way, which made it even more entertaining. Just all around good stuff.

First off Happy New Years to everyone! I am hoping that this year will bring good things. So I have been working on this shot off and on of a little while now. I am looking to finish it up in the next week or so and move on to another piece. But for now thisis what I have any comments/suggestion that you may have would be greatly appreciated.

I just added Justin Rasch he is an amazing animator, a inspiration and he is a cool person. Checkout his site! He spent 2 and half years making a stop motion short film. It is going to be released soon and I am looking forward to seeing it.

Another neglected blog :\
Well, just over a year later here's another post. A lot has happened this past year, in Febuary I left my job in Alabama and moved in with my in-laws in Oklahoma to focus on finishing my demo reel. Within a couple of months I was in contact with my Bionic Games and sealed the deal by the end of April. So, my family and I moved from Oklahoma to North Hollywood, Ca. It took a little while to adjust and we still miss the east coast but we're having a blast now.

So, I've started a new dialogue test

I am still in the blocking phase right now. When I get some time I will have to upload my thumbnails just to show how many revision I went through to get to where I am with the shot now.

Well, that's all for now I will hopefully be posting more soon.

That time of the year...

Well, it has come time for me to start working on a new demo reel. I want to try and get it done by January. So, I have decided to put my short film on hold for just a little while as I work on some simpler animation exercises. I entered the 11 Second Club animation challenge for this month. I am still in my blocking phase and will be posting updates over the next couple of weeks.

Short set and prop modeling and lighting WIP

So, I started to do some modeling for a short that I have in mind. Here is a still of one of the sets. I will explain more of the story and add thumbnails when the script is ironed out more.

Well, it is really no surprise that I haven't posted anything yet. However, I do have a good excuse. On September 3 my wife delivered our first baby boy. His name is Xavier he wieghted 7lbs and was 19.5 inches long. He is so freaking adorable!

I have started to do some thumbnails for a mini short idea. I will be posting those soon.
